Jul 2, 2 0 10, 0. Hello everybody. I'm having a weird buzzing sound coming from my computer when I play games.

The pitch of the buzzing does change depending on where I am facing with my character. For example when I look at the ground the noise seems to quiet down slightly. In World of Warcraft their is also a buzzing sound which leads me to believe that this buzzing noise has not so much to do with the work load of my GPU as WoW is not a demanding game. When I turned the shadow settings all the way down in WoW the buzzing seems to disappear after a few seconds however this has no effects in Witcher and DA:I.

In terms of settings Im running Withcer 3 on all low settings at p in order to reach 60fps. Dragon Age Im running at medium at p to reach 60fps. WoW is maxed out at p locked at 60fps. I have tried enabling v-sync and locking fps no higher than 60 and in some games that will lower the the sound but it still exists. Minimizing the game will mute the buzzing sound as it does not happen on the desktop or when browsing internet and watching videos.

The buzzing sound carries over on some menus in certain games and stops on other menus, it seems game dependent.

I have tried to track the sound and It seems to be loudest at the fans at the very top ceiling of my computer case. However I cannot see any sort of wires or anything interfering with the fans as my side panel is see through. I have opened it and cleaned it thinking it could be caused by dust build up but to no avail. I think that is everything i can say to try and describe the situation as best I can. Feel free to give your opinion for what should I do in order to make the noise disappear and to maximize the cooling system.

Prepare system to swap coolers 2. Remove old cooler 3. Clean see instructions old paste 4. Drop cooler down and cross-mount screws 6. Hook everything else back up motherboard if removed etc. Oct 9, 48, 2, , 10, Noise comes from fast fans. Use a rolled up paper tube and listen to where the noise is coming from. My guess is the graphics card. You probably don't want to sacrifice graphics performance by turning those fans down.

I doubt that more fans will net you less noise. Feb 23, 97 0 10, Hello there. Two thinks might doing that kind of noise in your PC. Time for a aftermarket cooler. Have fun. Bezzell Honorable. I just tried the other two links, but cannot hear anything. Of course, my ears have listened to a lot of loud rock and roll over the decades Thanks for the input!

I'll get that checked and then get back here to report. Good luck! Joined Jan 7, Messages 2, Some people recommend a gold or platinum power supplies. I did come across coil whine before but I watched another video in which it sounded a lot different. You could take a empty paper towel tube and put it to your ear to try to track it down.

Just did that. I think it's coming from the PSU? Not sure at all since it's really hard to tell and now I think I'm hearing more than one noise after listening in that carefully.. I'm looking up ways to stress test the components.

Trying Prime95 and Valley. I'll report in after I leave them on overnight. The thing is, when you stress test one device or component, it will also put more stress on others, especially the power supply. I was just about to ask that by editing my post..

Okay so the sound is clearly there while I'm running Prime As Seen On. Welcome to Tech Support Guy! Latest posts W. Apps and desktop changed to black with white letters 2 Viewers Latest: wildbill2u 29 minutes ago.

I'm not very experienced about hardwares and stuff, but isn't coil whine supposed to be present everytime a game pushes the GPU to the limit? This sound only happens on TW3, and only on main menu not while playing the game.

I play GTA 5 on highest settings with no such noise. And I remembered another thing, game crashes from time to time saying Driver stopped responding and recovered. Also started happening after patch. It is not specific to any game or even video card and does not indicate that you have a bad card.

It should not cause any damage to your card. It simply means that your card is under some stress. I have had this happen with my Classified a couple of times.
